Season's Greetings from Tilda

                                                              
Hello everyone and welcome to the Holidays!

Last week I worked very hard making two Tilda Christmas cards for my mother and sister.  Did not want to post them until they were received, and that happened today, so here they are!  Both Tilda images were colored with Copic markers, and I used a combination of different color backgrounds and ephemera to create a special look for each one.

                           

                                   

"Joy to the World" was made with my sister in mind.  I was aiming for the Spirit of Christmas with this one.

                                                                
For my mother I went for something vintage, but at the same time colorful and fun.  Was not sure what Tilda to use, but decided that she had to be sitting.

A Sassy Halloween

                                               
Hello everyone and a Happy Halloween to each of you!

I made two Halloween cards using images from Sassy Studio Designs, and I thought you might want to see them.  The card above I made for my mother, and the one below - dancing in the cemetery - I made for my friend Terri in Virginia.  This model is called Sassy Charlotte, and I've colored her many times, as she is one of my favorites.  I enjoy using the same image and seeing how different I can make her look each time!

                                                   

Tilda Loves Halloween!

  
I made this Halloween card for my sister a few weeks ago, but did not want to post it until she received it, as I wanted it to be a surprise.  It arrived today, and I am glad it's a big hit with her.  Anabel told me she was going to take it to her office to display on her desk, and of course I am very touched and flattered!  Thank you, Anabel!

                                     

Below is another Tilda card I made for Halloween, but I could not decide who to give it to, so I'll keep it for now and wait until next year LOL!

Memory Keeper

                                                            

Today is Labor Day, and a holiday for me, so I intend to enjoy it before returning to the daily grind tomorrow.  What's nice about a long weekend is having more time for myself and my crafting, so this time - wonder of wonders - I was able to make ANOTHER Tilda card! I actually completed her yesterday, but wanted to wait until today to post the photos. I call her Memory Keeper because I imagine her writing in a diary or journal.  I hope you all like her!

                                                  

Happy Birthday to Me

Last week on August 15th I celebrated another birthday, and I received such delightful Tilda cards from my parents and sister, that I want to share them with you.  Last year I introduced my mother and sister to coloring with Copic markers, and coloring Tilda is a lot of fun for them, especially my mother.  I was very touched with the cards I received, and I hope you like them as much as I do!

This is the card my mother made for me.  She did a great job on the hair!  Isn't she cute?

Needless to say, I had a wonderful birthday, and although I received many lovely and memorable cards, these three are very special to me.

                                           

I Love Paris

                 

"... I love Paris in the springtime.... I love Paris in the fall.... I love Paris in the winter when it drizzles... I love Paris in the summer when it sizzles...." What can I say?  This song by Cole Porter says it all for me.  I visited Paris several years ago and fell in love with the City of Light.  Paris has an irrestible magic for me, and I am drawn to anything with a French theme.  I had purchased these vintage Paris themed papers a long time ago, and last week I got the urge to make some cards using them as the background.  I used vintage photos to give them a look of nostalgia, especially the ones with the pictures of Josephine Baker, who was quite the chanteuse and the toast of Paris in the 1920's.

Tilda on the Ritz

                                                              
Hello everyone.... I was looking through at some of my earlier efforts with Tilda cards, and came across this one.  At the time I wasn't really happy with it, but I now can look at it more objectively.  I colored Tilda with Copic markers, and I have a bad habit of not recording the colors, so I can't say which ones I used, except for the hair (Cool Grays).  I embellished the dress with gold embossing, and also embossed the swagger trim on top.  Her tiara is glittered.  I call her "Tilda on the Ritz" because she looks fabulously wealthy LOL!

I didn't realize how pale the colors on this card were until I tried taking photos.  It was difficult to capture the accuracy of the colors, but it helped using a black background.  I used Copic markers to color Tilda, and her wings are embellished with Stardust glitter. The inside of the card reads:

It's a Girl Thing!

                                                                                                                            
I fell in love with this stamp called "Heure de Party" when I first saw it, and knew it could be used for birthdays or a girlfriend card - thus the Girl Thing theme used (the inside is stamped "It's a Girl Thing").  The design is by Gail M Burton, and you can see this and many others she has created on the Sparkle n Sprinkle website.  What I love about her designs is the Art Deco style she has incorporated into her images.  I used Copic markers to color it, and added a bit of glitter on each dress and headpiece.  I hope you like this card as much as I enjoyed making it!

Father's Day

                                                           
I have always found it a challenge to make cards for a man, especially my father.  This year I started making a card and changed midstream, as it just did not look right to me.  Without really deciding it, I started putting bits and pieces together, forming a collage, and it all fell into place.  I used Tim Holtz' distressed ink technique for the railroad ad and the car, adding a gold mist. Sunday drives are one of the memories I have while growing up, so I was pleased with the vintage flavor of the card and how it turned out!  This car reminds me very much of my father.

If there was such a thing as a Paris musical featuring a Moulin Rouge Revue, then Sassy Marie would be the perfect showgirl!  She is colored with Copic markers, and with touches of Spica glitter (although this is not obvious in the photo).  I had fun coloring her, and I hope you like her!

Add a Splash!

Summer is officially around the corner, and what better way to celebrate by presentaing a new image from Sassy Studio Designs?  I hope you like her... Sassy Sarong was colored with Copic markers, and I used a transparent glitter glue on the glare of the water. I keep imagining she's rushing to an evening beach party as the sun is setting!

                                                                       

Special Birthday Cards Featuring Tilda

I have many birthdays in March and April, so I stay busy making cards during these two months!  I want to share with you the birthday cards I made for my mother, sister, and my dear friend Nuria from Barcelona.  I decided to use Magnolia Tilda for the cards, as she is so darling and versatile.  I used Copic markers to color Tilda.

Creating a Mood

I have always loved the unique look of silhouettes, especially against a brayered background.  I have long been an admirer of Lavinia Stamps, and as many times as I tried, I could not achieve that beautiful soft graduated look of colors.  I was extremely fortunate last summer when an opportunity to take a "Brayering 101" class, and at last I learned the proper way to use a brayer.  I think what I like best is how after you have brayered a background, choosing a silhouette stamp can create a mood. I have always loved haunting faerie and celestial themes, and have quite a few faerie stamps. On my wish list are stamps from Lavinia Stamps I hope to one day add to my collection.  I highly recommend you check this site out, as the photo gallery is wondrous to look at.  I have attached a few of the cards I have made with a brayered background.  The inks used for the backgrounds are Adirondacks by Ranger, and the black for the silhouettes is Versafine Onyx Black by Tsukineko.

STEAMPUNK AMELIA

I made this card using the Steampunk Amelia image from Sassy Studio Designs.  It was featured on a Sassy Saturday in April, winning me the Sassy badge you see below.  Amelia was colored with Copics, and for the background I used Tim Holtz cardstock.  The sprockets were created with dies from Spellbinders.  I was - and am - so proud, as it's the first time my art work has been recognized.  Thank you, Sassy Studio Designs!

Flowers Say Hello From The Heart

Something different for today..... this is a Magnolia Tilda card I gave to my mother for Mother's Day last month.  I saw this paper with the flowers and text design, one day at Michael's, and something within me clicked when I remembered that I have a stamp that says "Flowers Say Hello From The Heart".  I worked from there, and I think I pulled it all together.  I have only made a few Tilda cards, and at this time, mine are not as elaborate as many I have seen online, but I hope to improve as time goes on.

Another Blast from the Past!

Hello and welcome to my second day of posting..... I was delighted with the response I received, since I am new to blogging, and am making this up as I go along.  Today I'm posting what I consider a follow up to the Mod Era; the hippie and casual look of the early 1970's. I wanted to give her a real Flower Child look, so colored her blouse a leafy green.  The photo does not show it, but I used Spica glitter pens to give her a more ethereal look about her.  Could not resist adding the word Peace, since she's making the peace sign.  On that note, I will wish you one and all Peace and Flower Power forever!

                                                                   

Welcome to my Blog!

Hello everyone, and welcome to the first posting of my blog!  I never thought this day would arrive, and I can say in all honesty that this blog would not have been possible without the help of my friend Terri Daugherty (Pixels & Paste).  She very patiently walked me through the steps, and even stepped in when some things were over my head.  Thank you, Terri!

I have so many cards waiting to be posted that I had to think about which one would have the honor of being the first to premiere my blog.  I decided on a recent card I made using the GoGo Girl image from Sassy Studio Designs.  This Sassy girl struck a chord with me, as I was 13 when the Mod Era fashions really took off.  Blues and greens were my favorite colors, and I had long black hair, so on some inner level, I colored her to resemble me.... even my sister Anabel agreed that she looks the way I did at that age... what memories what memories...... enjoy!
